Manchester Autumn & Winter 2026: The Big Events and Where to Stay

Summer gets the festivals, but autumn and winter are when Manchester really comes alive, football every week, the city's biggest club season, and the run-up to Christmas that turns the centre into one long celebration. If you are planning a trip between now and the new year, here is what is on, and where to base yourself for each.

Late August: Manchester Pride

The August bank holiday belongs to Manchester Pride, one of the UK's largest LGBTQ+ celebrations, centred on the Gay Village around Canal Street. Expect the parade, the Gay Village Party and a huge city-wide atmosphere. Full details and the best places to stay are in our Manchester Pride guide. Stay central, in or near the Village, and walk to everything.

September onwards: the football season

The Premier League is back, and matchdays at Old Trafford and the Etihad move the whole city. If your trip is built around a game, our matchday guides for Old Trafford and the Etihad cover the closest, best-connected places to stay. Book early: rates and availability tighten fast around fixtures.
