About this event
Manchester's Christmas Markets are the biggest in the UK — nine separate sites across the city centre, a quarter of a million visitors on a Saturday, and a genuine six-week mulled-wine season that runs mid-November to just before Christmas.
The experience is designed to be walked between. Albert Square, St Ann's Square, Exchange Square, Cathedral Gardens — all within ten minutes of each other. Staying central means you can pop out for a market evening, come back warm, go out for dinner, and never touch a taxi.
Getting to City Centre, Manchester
The main market sites are all inside the ring road — if you're staying central with us, every one of them is under 10 minutes on foot.
If you're arriving by train, Piccadilly and Victoria are both 10-minute walks from the markets. Free Metroshuttle bus 1 and 2 run between them.
Parking & driving in
Manchester city centre traffic in December is grim — park at the Trafford Centre or Etihad Park-and-Ride and tram in. If you must drive, NCP Spinningfields is the closest to most of our apartments.
Food & drink nearby
The markets themselves are the food plan — bratwurst at Albert Square, halloumi fries at Cathedral Gardens, mulled wine everywhere. For a proper meal with a warm-up roof: Mackie Mayor (Smithfield Market), 10 minutes from the main market cluster.

Frequently asked
- When are the markets on?
- Roughly mid-November to the week before Christmas — exact dates on visitmanchester.com each year. Earlier dates are quieter and easier to navigate.
- Are the markets suitable for kids?
- Yes — Cathedral Gardens has a children's area with rides and decorations. Late afternoon is calmer than after-work evenings.
- How far in advance should I book?
- Prime weekends (last three before Christmas) book up two-plus months out. Midweek stays in late November are easier to find and the markets are much less crowded.
