About this event
An Old Trafford matchday is a long day. Away-end chants in the Bishop Blaize at noon, kick-off at three, seventy-four thousand people pouring onto the same Metrolink platform at five. Most United fans who travel for the weekend tell us the same thing: the hotel they booked was either miles away or triple the usual rate.
Our Manchester apartments are a short ride from the ground, have room for four to eight, and don't surge on matchday. You get your own kitchen for the pre-match bacon sandwich, your own front door for when the game over-runs into extra time, and a proper bed to crash in rather than a Travelodge off the M60.
Getting to Old Trafford
From most of our city-centre flats it's 10–15 minutes on the Metrolink (Altrincham line, alight at Old Trafford — one stop before Trafford Bar, the mistake everyone makes). Trams run every 5–7 minutes on matchday but fill up fast two hours before kick-off and for an hour after full-time.
By foot, central Manchester to Old Trafford is about 45 minutes along the Bridgewater Canal — pleasant in summer, grim in February. A black cab is £12–£18 off-peak and £25+ immediately post-match when every taxi in the city is trying to escape the ground.
From Piccadilly station, take the tram direct to Old Trafford — 15 minutes, no changes. Don't walk: it's further than the map suggests.
Parking & driving in
Matchday parking zones cover most streets within a mile of the stadium and get strictly enforced. If you're driving in, the cheapest legal option is the Trafford Centre or Salford Quays car park + tram combo — about £4 all day plus two tram stops to the ground.
Our apartments with parking are marked on each listing — filter the properties page by "Free Parking" to see the full list.
Food & drink nearby
Sam Platt's and The Bishop Blaize are the two classic pre-match pubs within a five-minute walk of the Stretford End — go early, both are heaving from 1pm. The Trafford is a quieter, newer craft-beer option.
Post-match, Hotel Football's rooftop bar has the best view of the emptying ground. Back in the city centre, the Northern Quarter is 15 minutes on the tram and full of proper post-match pubs (Port Street Beer House, Cafe Beermoth, Crown & Kettle).

Frequently asked
- How close to Old Trafford do your apartments get?
- None of our apartments are directly opposite the stadium (those are mostly match-day-only Airbnbs that charge a premium). Our closest are in the city centre and Salford Quays, both 10–15 minutes by tram or 25–30 minutes on foot.
- Can we watch the match in the apartment if we miss kick-off?
- Every apartment has fast fibre wifi and a smart TV. Bring your Sky Go / Amazon Prime / TNT login and you're sorted. We don't include subscriptions but the wifi will stream them.
- Is it worth staying Saturday night after a 3pm kick-off?
- Usually yes — post-match Manchester is one of the best nights out in the country. The Northern Quarter, Ancoats and Deansgate are all a short walk apart and most bars don't close until 2am.
- When should I book for a big match?
- For Derby day, Liverpool, or Champions League knockouts, two-plus months out. Hotels around the ground go to £300+ within a fortnight of kick-off; direct bookings with us don't surge, so the early bird genuinely wins.
