Visiting Manchester City: Etihad Stadium Tours, Match Tickets & Where to Stay

The Etihad Stadium is one of the most modern grounds in world football and the heart of the Etihad Campus in East Manchester. Freshly expanded past 60,000 seats, it's a brilliant day out whether you're here for a Manchester City game or a behind-the-scenes stadium tour. Here's how to get tickets, what to see, and where to stay just a walk away.

The Etihad stadium tour

No matchday ticket? You can still go inside. The Etihad Stadium Tour takes you through the players' tunnel, the home dressing room, pitchside by the dug-outs and the press room, with the club's trophy haul and heritage on display along the way, a genuinely staggering run of recent silverware.

Tours run most non-matchdays, last around 70–90 minutes and are great for families. Book ahead online, as slots sell out, and you'll get a close look at the newly expanded North Stand, with the new Medlock Square fan zone joining the Campus alongside the Co-op Live arena next door.

Going to a Manchester City game

A night at the Etihad watching one of the best teams of the modern era is something special. The Premier League season runs August to May, with Champions League nights and cup ties on top. Kick-off times move around for TV, so confirm the date and time of your fixture before you book your stay, especially for midweek European games.

Getting match tickets, we can help

Let's be straight: City tickets can be tricky to get, particularly for the marquee fixtures. The good news is that we have a reliable contact who can help you get hold of match tickets. If your trip is built around a specific game, just tell us when you book and we'll point you in the right direction.

Where is the Etihad, and getting there

The Etihad sits in East Manchester, about two miles east of the city centre. Getting there is simple:

  • Metrolink: The Ashton-under-Lyne line stops at Etihad Campus, a two-minute walk from the ground and around 10 minutes from Piccadilly.
  • On foot: A 20–25 minute walk from the Northern Quarter or Ancoats along the Ashton Canal, a proper pre-match stretch on a dry day.

Stay within walking distance

The best matchday plan is to stay close enough to walk. We have apartments within walking distance of the Etihad, particularly around Ancoats, New Islington and the eastern edge of the city centre, so you can walk in, skip the post-match tram queues, and be home in minutes. For a fuller area-by-area guide, see our Etihad matchday accommodation guide, and just ask us which places are closest.

Make a weekend of it: the Etihad Campus is also home to Co-op Live, the UK's biggest indoor arena, so you can pair a match with a gig, and Ancoats, five minutes away, is one of the best food neighbourhoods in the country.
