Co-op Live is the UK's largest indoor arena — 23,500 capacity, and just a 15-minute Metrolink ride from central Manchester. It sits right next to the Etihad on the Etihad Campus. Here's the smart guest's guide to making the most of a gig.
Where is Co-op Live, exactly?
It's in East Manchester, next to the Etihad Stadium. The official address is Etihad Campus, but you're very much heading into a concert-and-football precinct rather than a standalone venue. Plan for a 20–30 minute journey from your accommodation, even if you're staying centrally.
How to get there
- Metrolink (recommended): Etihad Campus stop is a 2-minute walk from the arena. Trams run every few minutes.
- Walking: 25–30 minutes from the Northern Quarter via the canal — perfect on a summer evening.
- Driving: Dedicated car parks are bookable in advance via the arena website. Not recommended for one-off visits — go by tram.

Stay city centre, Northern Quarter or Ancoats. All three are 15–20 minutes from the venue by tram, and you get the huge advantage of being surrounded by great pre-gig restaurants and post-gig bars. Staying right next to the venue sounds convenient, but you'll be in a largely residential area with nothing open at 11pm.
Where to eat before a show
Give yourself 2 hours between dinner and doors. Book:
- Rudy's Pizza — Quick, brilliant, in Ancoats en-route.
- Elnecot — Modern British, small plates, Ancoats.
- El Gato Negro — Three floors of excellent tapas, city centre.
- The Refuge by Volta — Beautiful space, late kitchen, good if doors are at 7pm+.
Afterwards
Tram straight back into town and pick from the NQ's late-night bars — Cane & Grain, Port Street, or Mother Mac's for a proper pub. Bars in the NQ typically stay open until 2am.
One practical tip
Co-op Live hosted some huge opening-week issues in 2024 — check the latest arena updates and confirm set times before you travel. Allow 15 minutes to get through security on a sold-out night.
