Accommodation for the Grand National at Aintree, Liverpool

Liverpool apartments for the three-day Grand National Festival — short train to Aintree, the whole city for your post-race night out.

About this event

Three days. One hundred and fifty thousand people. Every hotel within 20 miles sold out six months out, and at triple the usual rate. The Grand National is the biggest weekend in Liverpool's calendar and accommodation is the hardest part to sort.

Our Liverpool apartments put you in the middle of the city — a 15-minute Merseyrail train to Aintree, and everything the city has to offer (the Baltic Triangle, the Albert Dock, the pubs of the Cavern Quarter) right on your doorstep. Ladies Day to the Kop. Grand National Day to Mathew Street. All in the same weekend.

Getting to Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool

Merseyrail runs extra services on race days from Liverpool Central and Moorfields direct to Aintree — journey time 15 minutes, trains every 10–15 minutes. Return trains after the last race are the slowest part of the day; plan to stay for a drink and let the first wave clear.

Driving is not recommended — parking near the racecourse is either pre-booked weeks in advance or very expensive. If you must drive, park at a city-centre car park and Merseyrail in.

Parking & driving in

On-course parking is advance-book only and sells out early. The cheapest way to drive in is park at Liverpool ONE or Q-Park Hanover Street, Merseyrail from Liverpool Central.

Food & drink nearby

Pre-race, the Baltic Triangle and the Royal Albert Dock are where Liverpool locals go — Baltic Market for street food, the Baltic Fleet for a proper Merseyside pint.

Post-race, Mathew Street and the Cavern Quarter get rowdy; for something calmer, the restaurant strip on Bold Street (Maray, Mowgli, Bundobust) is a 10-minute walk from most of our flats.

Good to know

Frequently asked

How far in advance should I book?
Six months minimum for Grand National weekend. Three if you're flexible on size / location. Inside six weeks it gets very expensive everywhere.
What's the dress code and do I need to bring formal wear?
Ladies Day has a smart-casual code but it's much more relaxed than Royal Ascot. Plenty of room in our apartments to lay out outfits and steam the creases out.
Are your apartments good for a hen-do / lads weekend?
Most of our Liverpool stock is 2–4 bedrooms, perfect for groups of 6–10. We're responsible-party-friendly but no all-night bashes — check the house rules on each listing.
